Shanghai Restoration Project: Flashbacks & Fortune Telling - New York Chinatown Special Performance

On Friday, Nov 22, 2019, Shanghai Restoration Project (SRP), the Brooklyn-based electronic duo of Dave Liang and Sun Yunfan, performed inside a one-night-only installation at a secret underground location in Chinatown, NYC. The show features the duo’s eclectic repertoire, original animations, as well as a breathtakingly scintillating pop-up stage.

SRP’s genre-bending, border-traversing, retro-futuristic soundscape often uses poetic melodies to draw audiences into imaginary settings where unexpected adventures unfold with a dissonant and polyrhythmic palette. In the shadow of murmuring outer space particles, one might encounter a piano and vocal accompanied rainforest insect chirping for a mate against the backdrop of atonal analog synth lines, household item percussion, and lost and found street sounds from around the world.
